Dr. Lisa Pickett, Ed.D

Voted one of the top Ladies Who Lead by the Professional Women’s Network, Dr. Pickett specializes in curriculum, instruction, design, and educational social equity. As a published academic scholar, speaker, consultant, educator, and creative, she is passionate about empowering others to unleash their untapped potential.

She created Dr. Lisa Pickett Consulting after experiencing and bouncing back from teacher burnout. Her mission is to share practical teacher ideas, enhance student learning, and help other educators to build long lasting happy careers.

Dr. Pickett is a Nationally Board Certified educator with a Doctorate Degree in Leadership and Administration, K-12 School Principal Certification, Master's Degree in Journalism and Mass Communications, and a Bachelor's Degree in Secondary English Education.

Her career expands over two decades of educational experience implementing high quality instruction and curriculum. Dr. Pickett currently serves as the Curriculum and Instruction 9-12 Literacy Coordinator for the Pittsburgh Public Schools. She has served as a curriculum writer, racial equity affiliate, instructional teacher leader, post-secondary adjunct instructor, secondary English teacher, educational consultant, and motivational speaker. 

Dr. Pickett has worked with educators at all levels designing personalized supports for such organizations as the Scranton School District of PA, Pittsburgh Public Schools, University of Pittsburgh, Carlow University, Chatham University, Urban Academy, Urban Impact, Fund for Advancement of Minorities through Education (F.A.M.E.) Teachers’ Academy, Brown Mamas, LLC., and presented at countless conferences.

 

Her work has been featured in the Urban Review, Pittsburgh Neighborhood Guidebook, Sampsonia Way, Deesha Philyaw and Vanessa German’s Tender anthology, National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE), PA Council of Teachers of English (PCTELA), and the Pennsylvania Teacher’s Advisory Committee’s (PTAC). 

 

Dr. Pickett is passionate about empowering students and educators to unleash their untapped potential, embracing current educational research, social equity, and sharing new ideas to those around her.

Shhhhhhh...she also loves making chocolate chip cookies with her children and being an extra in film adaptations of August Wilson’s 10 Play Cycle such as Fences and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom!​
